Gov. Sarah Palin McCain VP Speach
Uploaded by TECHNOLOGOS
I'm not a Republican but I'm happy for them. They finally have someone they can get excited about, for whatever reasons. Sarah Palin's unique because for as long as anyone can remember the face of the Republican Party has been white males. But I just can't shake the fact that her voice kinda gets on my nerves. I don't know exactly why. But one thing I do know is the that the chance of McCain winning and Palin doing countless interviews and speeches over the next four years is definitely NOT music to my ears.

This has got to be someone's idea of a sick joke. If not, I can't believe in this day and age of "To Catch A Predator," "Law & Order:SVU," and everyday child abductions, that this ad even made it off the boardroom table.

The Raw Story | Missouri Police taser injured boy 19 times
A 16 year old kid with a broken foot and back "wasn't complying?" He was such a threat that they had to tase him 19 times? Are they serious? I think the federal and state governments are beginning to regret supplying officers with these tasers. To me they're making officers more irresponsible since they believe they're not deadly. At least with guns they have to really think twice before they pull that trigger.

It's funny to me how conservatives, and anti-Obama people in general believe what they want to believe. One of the biggest lies that they put out about Barack is that he is Muslim. You know you heard people say, "His names Barack Obama. His father was Kenyan. He attended a Muslim school as a child. He must be Muslim. He must have terrorist ties." First of all, we all know that isn't true. Second, whats wrong with being Muslim? Conservative Republicans don't believe us when we tell them it isn't true. Well now there's visual evidence. I saw a video of Barack eating breakfast with troops during his visit to Kabul, Afghanistan. What was he eating? BACON! Everyone knows a Muslim would never eat bacon. I actually got hungry myself. But anyway, I hope enough people see this little clip and end all the "He's a Muslim!" talk. It's really getting pathetic.

I'm in the process of taking an ethnic diversity class. In this class we have weekly discussion questions that ask questions like "What's the difference between ethnicity and race?" or "Who are some leaders of the civil rights movement?" A couple weeks ago the question was asked: "How has slavery effected the evolution of the United States?" My classmates brought up different views; some valid, but some just downright ignorant and uninformed. Most of the comments were the same old "It was horrible and I am ashamed that it is part of United States history." I understand that race issues are a sensitive matter and usually signal the group to hold hands and sing a big old round of "Kumbia's" but I think that type of ignoring of the issues is why things are the way they are. Hell, I probably would've sang a couple kumbias myself. Then it happened. I made a post about institutional racism and how it affects minorities in this country and one of my classmates replied that institutional racism doesn't exist. Huh?!? I saw that the young lady was Native American and White but that she doesn't even know anything about her Native American culture. So most people would see her as White. So I could understand how institutional racism doesn't exist for her.
I let that ride, but then another classmates post struck a nerve. This individual had the nerve, or maybe just the ignorance, to imply that African-Americans should be happy that slavery happened since it has lead to us being "the most advanced group of African descended people in the world." Huh??!! WTF?!? I had to proceed to tell this cat that just because he, and the majority of Americans, thinks our country is the greatest in the world doesn't make it true. We may look at other, poorer countries and feel pity for them, but they have something a lot of us over here don't; roots. People wanna know why African-Americans are often "angry." I think the best way to answer that would be with another question. How would you feel if the oldest history you know about yourself is that your ancestors used to be enslaved and brutalized by the ancestors of the very people who are your bosses and supervisors at your job now?

What the HELL??!!! That's Gangstalicious!!! "Homies over hoes! Homies over hoes! Do the homie! Do the homie!(Boondocks)
…..even though all of the big news networks don’t want you to. Now don’t get me wrong, Im all for memorializing those who have passed on. But recently it seems as if every famous person who passes away has to do a world tour before they’re laid to rest. Ronald Reagan, the Pope, James Brown; all of them were flown around the world AFTER the died. (Memo to my family: Don’t fly me around the world after I die; I may just get up and see the sights!) Is it just me or is that a little weird? One of my favorite bestselling authors when I was younger, Robert Jordan, passed away and many of his fans didn’t even hear about it until a week later. The reason all of this posthumous coverage irks me is because most of these people, unless they’re suffering from some terminal illness, don’t get five minutes in the news media in the period before their deaths. If the media really felt certain individuals were so great then why don’t they talk about them before they die? Instead of showing stories about what celeb is visiting rehab this week. Or who’s dating who’s ex-wife/husband/whatever. (I just had a sick thought; do the regular news anchors hope for some profoundly famous person to pass away since it basically amounts to at least one day off for them? In the words of Brad Jordan(Scarface), “You’re nobody till somebody kills you.”)The point of me running my mouth about all this is this: Don’t wait until it’s too late to appreciate those who deserve appreciation.

I came across this article and it got my blood boiling! In it a caucasian man is explaining why, mentally, black people are still slaves. WHAT!!!!! But as much as I hate to admit it, he does raise some serious questions. I, for one, don't know too many brothas and sistas who read for their own mental enrichment. The ones who do, including myself, can be ridiculed for it sometimes. Especially black men, such as myself, who read. But reading has introduced me to beliefs, concepts, cultures, philosophies, etc. that I would probably never be exposed to otherwise. A good book can help you mentally escape a bad situation. A good book can take you anywhere you can imagine or give you a deeper overstanding of the environment you're living in. Books can be a powerful tool in helping you to develop yourself in every way but brothas shouldn't have to be locked up in prison before we realize it.

I was in Hell the other day......I mean Wal-Mart.....when I noticed something strange. How the hell can you sell DVD’s that have blood, guts, T& A, and every four-letter word ya mama told you will lead you straight to H-E-double hockey sticks but every CD has to be edited? When I thought about it at first it looked like Wal-Mart was catering to the Hollywood community. But as I thought about it some more I realized the music and movie industries are really controlled by some of the same mega-media corporations. That led me to believe that maybe Wal-Mart’s reason for the policy was something else. Maybe they have this policy as a way to try to control what type of customers shop in their electronics department. I don’t know about you but I like my music uncut and raw. I can’t remember ever buying a rap/hip-hop CD from Wal-Mart. And most brothas I know are the same way. So maybe selling edited CD’s is a way to keep "certain individuals" from being in their CD section. Just something that made me go......hmmmmm.
p.s. They sell those video games that everyone says are making kids shoot up their schools too.
I was......uhhh...visiting...... my friendly neighborhood county jail the other day when something hit me. I realized how much the whole justice system is really big business.
It starts with the police. I’ve seen folks get tickets for going 5 miles over the speed limit in some of the most nonresidential areas. Not to mention what we like to call "speed traps." If you ever been driving in a 50 mph zone that all of a sudden changed to a 30 mph zone, you have been the victim of a speed trap. It’s not a coincedence that the police sit right at these particular spots. We got something they need....the almighty dollar. They need it for new Dodge Chargers to catch more people going 5 miles over the speed limit. They need it for new laptops in those new Chargers. They need it for new tasers to shock your 80 year old Granny with severe arthritis when she gets to be too much for them to handle. If you happen to be lucky enough to get arrested by these fine gentlemen you get the opportunity to be introduced to the next level of money-grubbers....the bail bondsman.
Speaking of the bail bonds community; while I was on my little visit I noticed that all the bail bondsman were.....women! (I just thought that was strange) But anyway, the bail bondspeople are a trip. It was like the bondspeople were posted around the jail like Michael Jackson at a Boy Scout convention. Its their life mission to get you out of that big bad cold dirty stankin jail no matter what. For a small fee that is.
Once you do get free its time to deal with the judicial system. Home of some of the biggest leeches in the whole feeding cycle. I won’t even go into how crooked and money hungry some lawyers are. These cats will represent you even when they know you’re gonna lose your case. They’ll take your whole McDonalds check plus send you a bill later. Hell, you might even catch them out having drinks with the judge and prosecutor who just threw your ass back in jail. Using the money you had to pay the court But if they just lost your case what could they be celebrating? Oh yeah.....PAYDAY. For everyone from the police to the bail bondsman to the jail to the contractors who build the jails to the lawyers to the courts .
In my opinion the whole system is a money making machine. It’s not much different from Mickey D’s, Wal-Mart, or your local service station. Except the justice system sells second chances. It’s up to us to not be repeat customers.
So when I hear someone in the criminal justice business use the term "Justice for all", I think "Naw, it’s Just-Cash 4 Y’all."
